Setting Out

Each year the CPA holds, Setting Out, a special exhibition for new ceramics graduates at Contemporary Ceramics, its gallery in the heart of London's West End. The exhibition lasts for twelve days and provides an early opportunity for students to show their work in a professional gallery. It reflects the variety of work being made on ceramic courses and gives new graduates an avenue to launch their career in ceramics.

Any graduating student may apply to take part in Setting Out but the application must be through the sponsoring College and be endorsed by the course tutor. Each College may sponsor up to three graduates. The work exhibited at Setting Out is selected by a panel of CPA Council members, all leading ceramic artists.

We encourage all colleges to take part to ensure that their achievements are recognized.

Bursaries

An important part of Setting Out is the award of two or more £500 bursaries to graduates exhibiting at the event. The bursaries are award by The Craft Potters Charitable Trust to those planning the most effective use of the funds to further their education and development in ceramics. The application for a bursary must also be endorsed by sponsoring College tutor.
