Studied ceramics at Cardiff (now U.W.I.C) - BA in 1978 and MA in 1995. Making individual figurative pieces which may be of human or animal subjects. Fragmented forms, such as torsos, heads and hands, are used, in order to focus on important areas of expression, gesture and character. Each piece is finely modelled using coiling/pinching techniques and a range of clays from terracotta to porcelain paperclay. Finishes include crackle glazes, vitreous slips and smoke firing, with a top temperature of 1260. Author of 'The Potters' Question and Answer Book' (A&C Black).
