photo The bulk of my work is lead glazed slipware. The forms are simple and restrained and inspired by the functional domestic earthenware of the country potteries of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Two main clays are used, a red terracotta body dipped in white ball clay slip and fired under a rich honey glaze (see photo). The other is a white earthenware clay loosely decorated with coloured slips and fired with a clear lead glaze. Although the simpler forms may be raw glazed, most of the work is biscuit fired and then glaze fired to 1130°C in an electric kiln.
