My work explores the balance and juxtapositions of form, colour and texture and how these elements relate to the mind. Many influences from the natural world such as fossils and landscapes inspire my work but it is primarily abstract and symbolises the concepts elaborated below. The forms are fluid and symmetrical, rising up from a base indicating growth. This represents how we structure our minds using values as an anchor to balance our lives and promote spiritual development. Colour connects to our emotional life. An awareness of our emotions leads to greater clarity. A textural veil of random marks floating on selected areas of the form is reminiscent of our spontaneous thought process. A continuous stream of ideas which can be guided towards a positive creative energy. The ceramic jewellery I produce also explores similar ideas; an aesthetically balanced union between the elements.
