About Us

Members and Associates Advisory Committee (MAAC)

In 1989 it was decided that the CPA needed a mechanism both to represent the Associate Membership and cater more specifically for its needs. A new subcommittee, the Members and Associates Advisory Committee (MAAC) therefore came into existence specifically for this purpose.

Much of the Committee's work involves the organisation of events such as talks, demonstrations, exhibition seminars and workshop and museum visits. These events are aimed principally but not exclusively at the Associates. At several of the major potter's fairs in the UK the MAAC organises an Associates Stand where selected members are given the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in the company of more established makers. In addition, MAAC gives assistance to the CPA Council on specific projects whenever required.

MAAC is particularly concerned with specific issues of the Associate Membership and there is a continuous recruitment drive for new members. If you are interested in becoming an Associate member please visit our Membership section.

Like the main Council, the MAAC comprises 9 elected members, drawn from the whole of the CPA, each member serving 3 years such that 3 members are elected each year. There is also a student member co-opted on to the Committee to aid contact with university ceramic departments.
